Jim was born in East Orange General Hospital. He was the son of the late James Joseph Flannery, Sr. and Regina (Lanagan) Flannery. Jim, along with his three sisters Anne, Mary, and Grace, were raised in East Orange and Orange before moving to Caldwell. Caldwell was where the Flannery Family made their home for many years.
